Why QT Imaging

The Clear Imaging Experience

How QTI breast imaging works,
in plain language.

Where sound replaces X-rays,
and breast compression disappears

QTI stands for Quantitative Transmission Imaging. Instead of X-rays, the scanner sends low-frequency sound through the breast and measures how fast it travels, how much it fades, and how it reflects. Those three measurements become a true 3D map of the tissue, captured from nipple to chest wall.

A mammogram makes a flat picture by pressing the breast and passing X-rays through it. Dense tissue and cancer can both show up white, which is why dense breasts are harder to read and why callbacks happen. Because sound behaves differently in different tissue types, a QTI scan characterizes tissue rather than just outlining it.

Why we chose QT imaging

The QTI difference

Gentle by design

When the body can be scanned often without harm, health conditions can be detected before symptoms ever appear. Among the newest advancements in medical imaging, 3-D breast imaging stands apart, with high quality, high resolution images regardless of breast size or tissue type. This is imaging for every woman.

Never part of your scan

  • No radiation
  • No compression
  • No pain
  • No IV contrast dyes, no gadolinium

What that means for you

  • Fewer false positives, which means fewer callbacks and fewer unnecessary biopsies
  • Safe for all ages
  • Safe for breast implants
  • All sizes up to DDD

The Technology

Speed of sound mapping

Transducers rotate around the breast while it rests in warm water, collecting speed-of-sound, attenuation, and reflection data from every angle. Speed-of-sound mapping is what lets the scan detect microcalcifications and characterize tissue types, and it is why dense tissue does not hide what is there. The scan takes roughly 10 to 20 minutes per side, and nothing presses on you at any point.

True 3D, nipple to chest wall

Software reconstructs the data into co-registered 3D volumes at sub-millimeter resolution, comparable to MRI, viewable in coronal, axial, and sagittal planes at the same time. The images show the breast from nipple to chest wall, and image quality is reproducible regardless of operator, breast size, or tissue type.

Density, measured

AI-powered analysis software quantifies fibroglandular volume, total breast volume, and the fibroglandular ratio that defines breast density. That gives you a numerical baseline, not a visual estimate, to compare year over year. Every scan is read by a board-certified radiologist trained in QT imaging and delivered to you securely, with a copy to your provider on request.

FDA
cleared

The QT Imaging scanner holds FDA 510(k) clearance as a supplemental screening device, including follow-up for inconclusive mammogram findings, and was the first ultrasound-based device cleared to quantify breast density.

Clearance does not mean it replaces your mammogram, and we will never tell you it does. It means you have a safe, precise option alongside your regular screening, without another round of radiation, compression, or heavy metal dye IV injections.

Repeat imaging is not just an inconvenience. Every additional mammogram, ultrasound, or biopsy carries its own cost, its own waiting period, and its own worry. Sharper visualization of the breast's internal structures is designed to reduce false positives, which means fewer women sent for follow-up procedures they did not need. Our founder lived that cycle herself, and it is the reason this clinic exists.
